田中英夫 is a 63 years old man who comes to PIH from Japan. On March 18th 2011, he was admitted to Puhua International Hospital, presenting with “progressive motor disability of four limbs for two and a half years, with deterioration over previous two months”.
He was diagnosed with ALS.
After one month of Stem Cell Treatment, he was discharged on April 16th 2011.
Medical condition before Stem Cell Treatment
Before the Stem cell treatment for ALS, his medical condition was troublesome.
Upon arrival, he felt depressed and anxious about his condition. Muscles in his four limbs were atrophying, because of which he couldn’t move his arms or legs well, particularly his right arm. Even with the assistance of his left hand, he could only raise his right arm to the waist. His walking, as well as his other movements, was very slow and arduous/labored.

Medical condition after Stem cell Treatment, and related treatment
With Stem Cell Treatment and his hard work in the rehabilitation trainings, this patient's overall condition gradually improved.
Instead of depression and anxiety, he began to display more optimism. He became more confident and talkative, and he began to make some friends with other patients as well as the staff of PIH. The atrophy of his limb muscles stopped progressing, and began to reverse. He gained more strength in his whole body, especially in his upper limbs. Evident improvements were noted in his upper limbs. He began to be able to raise his right arm over his shoulder from the supine position, on his back.
Improvements also could be observed with his gait: he began to be able to walk more quickly, even before his discharge.
The friends that this patient made at PIH are all looking forward to seeing more improvements in him over time.
